Labor blame game is poor form

Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington today slammed the Labor Government for attacking our footy clubs in a lazy attempt to shift blame over exorbitant stadium fees.

“Sports Minister Mick de Brenni should be backing our proud Queensland teams, not trash talking them,” Ms Frecklington said.

“If the Sports Minister won’t back our teams, who will?

“At the start of the week Annastacia Palaszczuk was going to shake up the board and review Stadiums Queensland. Today Mick de Brenni is saying that Stadiums Queensland are doing a great job.

“So does Labor think there’s a problem, or not?

“Let’s not forget that Mick de Brenni has sledged our sports teams before – ignoring the success of the Brisbane Roar Women’s’ team and saying the Roar need to play better before entertaining a new home ground.

“Will Annastacia Palaszczuk show some leadership and get rid of this embarrassment of a Sports Minister?”

Shadow Sports Minister John-Paul Langbroek said fans were being hit.

“These astronomical stadium fees are driving up ticket prices, driving up food and drink prices and putting our much loved sporting teams under financial pressure,” Mr Langbroek said.

“Surely we should be putting fans first, not the government coffers?

“Labor needs to fix the stadium deals and re-look at how we do things because we have fallen behind the other states in the sporting arms race.

“We want our Queensland teams to be successful and our stadiums to be fan-friendly.”
